Our mascot

Hi, I’m
Iggy!

The mascot of the European IgG4-RD Patient Associations and the Federation. Here to smile, wave, and remind you that you are never alone.

Why Iggy?

About the name

“Feel free to tell people you have Iggy disease!”

Fun fact

IgG4-Related Disease is notoriously difficult to pronounce — so Iggy is the friendly shorthand every patient deserves.

Every patient I meet struggled with pronouncing their disease: “I have IgG4-Related Disease” is a high-level exercise for any jaw muscle! Unfortunately, it is hard to change the name of the disease, so for now we shall leave it at that — but feel free to tell people you have Iggy disease!

You may also wonder why a mascot… Well, with such an unpronounceable name that sounds more like rocket fuel than anything medical, and given that not enough is known yet about our outlook and quality of life — and given how lonely we sometimes feel — we all sometimes need a hug, a smile, a holding hand.

And that is me, your very own Iggy!

Real patients. Real people.

Please smile and wave back!

This is the home of real patients, real people. You are not alone on this journey — Iggy and the entire federation community are here with you.
